NYC: a Cosmopolitan Atmosphere

The City of New York is the most populous one in the United States. Located at the center of the New York Metropolitan area, the city has a significant impact on finance, art, research, education, technology, global commerce, international affairs and entertainment. Americans refer to New York City as the cultural capital of the world. In fact, many American movements first emerged there. Such is the case of the Harlem Renaissance, which established the African-American in the United States, or modern dance, which originated in New York in the early 20th century.

New York is, indeed, an absolutely cosmopolitan city. Perhaps its cultural richness also lies on the fact that people from all over the world do business there. New York City just welcomes everyone. This fact is also reflected on daily life, you can find themed restaurants and nightclubs. Visiting New York is not like visiting a strange culture that, however beautiful and interesting it may be, takes some time to become natural to you. You can choose to eat Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, and any kinds of food every day, at any time of the day. Copacabana nightclub, for example, offers a taste of Brazil with the option of returning to America when you want to. If you stay upstairs, you can enjoy some Salsa music and dancing. However, if you feel somehow weird, you can still go back to the American DJ club scene downstairs.

When people choose to take French classes New York City is a good option as well. The French culture is well respected in the Big Apple. When you are done with the lesson, you can resort to French culture guides which will help you assimilate the French culture within New York. Due to its cosmopolitan character, studying languages in NYC might be even better than studying in the places where such languages are spoken, especially if it comes to French. French locals are not very open to speak English in their country. Just imagine studying French in New York, and then enjoying, for instance, a monthly evening of an eclectic mix of art, literature and music by rising French-speaking authors.

When it comes to German lessons New York offers virtually the same benefits you would get if you were to be studying in Germany as well. Remember you can find people from all over the world to talk to, in whatever language you are speaking. Lessons can take place any day of the week at any time of the day, including weekends. A German native speaking trainer will be happy to give you an insight into the cultural backgrounds of the language apart from the technical aspect of it.
